Our story

Housing may be big business now, but in 1963 we were selling cakes at Portobello market. That’s how we raised money to buy our first properties. We wanted to give people living in the slums of racketeering landlords a better and fair alternative.

No one would touch the Notting Hill area when we started. Now look at it! It’s the social housing that keeps it mixed and vibrant. These days we do more than give people a lovely home. We want our homes to be a springboard to a better life. We work with our customers to build the skills and confidence they need to get a good job. We help them think about their long term goals and how to get there. We’ve got saving schemes and employment services that mean people can start planning a brighter future.

Most people want to own their own home. We help them to do that in a secure and affordable way. Notting Hill Housing invented shared ownership in the late 1970s. We’ve always had a pioneering spirit. We try out new things all the time. And we need new people to carry this spirit forward.
